Prudence Foundation (PF) manages the Regional Volunteers Programme to provide assistance to communities in times of disaster. Faced with challenges by COVID-19 in 2021, PF was able to continue providing support by partnering with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, to host virtual mapathons in 2021 and 2022.
About 170 colleagues from Prudential across Asia and Africa took part in the second edition of the Mapathon, which was held on two days in April 2022. Together, PRUvolunteers mapped over 6,400 buildings, helping to put missing places and communities in Nampula province, Mozambique, on the digital map. These digital maps are essential for first responders to reach affected areas during a crisis and provide aid.
