ESG considerations are becoming increasingly important elements of good investment practices. Managing ESG risks by applying our Responsible Investment Policy is part of our effort to generate long-term returns on assets.

Responsible Investment Policy

In 2021, we made significant updates to our Group Responsible Investment Policy. The purpose of the policy is to articulate the Group’s expectations relating to responsible investment and guide our local businesses and asset managers. The updated Group Responsible Investment Policy is structured across six different implementation strategies: 

Integration

We seek to integrate ESG factors into our investment decisions, alongside traditional financial analysis.

Stewardship & Engagement

As custodians of our customers’ assets, it is important that we act in ways consistent with our stewardship responsibilities. Engagement is a core part of providing effective stewardship and an important means of generating long-term value.

Collaboration

We continue to view collaboration with investors through collective initiatives and industry bodies as another way to build capacity and to amplify the effectiveness of our engagement activity.
