Improving school nutrition in poverty stricken areas

REACH and School Nutrition Programmes in China

Strategic focus: Education, Health, Safety

Prudence Foundation supports two ECD programmes implemented by China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) since 2017:

1) The Rural Education and Child Health (REACH) focuses on early stage development for 0-3 years in Leibo County, a remote part of south west Sichuan.

The programme aims to help parents build child raising concepts and behaviors, improve child rearing methods, and improve children’s health via nutritional supplement support/packages. The programme is expected to benefit over 1,500 children.

Helping parents raise children with sound nutritional support.

2) Nutrition Intervention Programme aims at improving the quality and standards of school nutrition in poverty stricken areas.

The programme activities include school canteen infrastructure upgrades, training chefs and nutrition knowledge sharing, building healthy school supply chains, canteen ‘star rating’ programme, parent led diet committees, school meal capability improvement planning and undertaking comparative study of school meals and empirical study. Our funding will directly benefit 121 schools.
